Another picture that exemplifies his style is from ‘All of my mother’s …’ collection.
A repository of his work has been wrapped up for fans on his website http://ashtonography.com.
“After fleeing Baltimore, the city of his spawning, Ashton set up shop in NYC in 1995. After stints in a catalog studio and as the on-staff photog for design/advertising firm Frankfurt Balkind, he opened his studio in 1997.
Ashton has shot CEOs, bugs, dildoes, cheese, garbage, liberal and conservative newspeople, old people, young people, medium people, guns, booze, toothbrushes, olympic athletes, scientists, cancer patients, lizards, and lawyers, and loves them all equally.
He now happily lives and works in Brooklyn with 1 wife, 2 kids, 2 cats, 1 fish, and 4 cars.
And the name? My dad was in graphic design, and for a long time had a firm in Baltimore partnered with a guy named David Ashton. My father was my hero, but he definitely had a healthy ego – so yeah, he named me after his company.”
